Draft @ the brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty caramel and chocolate flavor. Has a slightly roasted malty caramel and chocolate finish.

[1/27/17] Draught at Woods Bar & Brewery in Oakland. Brown. Malt, roast, caramel, vegetal note, sweet, fruity note, a bit of yeast. Medium-bodied.

From tap at the brewpub. Dark brown to black color with off white head. Roasted malty and light hoppy aroma, caramel, chocolate, licorice, fruity, dark dried fruits grass notes. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with small frothy beige head that lasts. The aroma is raisin, bread, licorice. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, roast, dry finish, very good.

Tap at the Polk station brewery tap. Black / mahogany brown/ reddy coloured pour with a fading halo of mid tan head. Aroma is rounded brown malts, toasted, caramel, toasted brown bread, light berry. Flavour is semi sweet, toasted brown bread, toffee, slight woodland berry, raspberry. Wood tannin. Palate is semi sweet, frothy carbonation, semi drying finish, high carbonation. Lingering woodland Berry. Decent brown ale.
