[1/30/17] Draught at Bartlett Hall in San Francisco. Very dark brown. Aroma of roast, chocolate, milk, some coffee, some vanilla. Sweet flavor with chocolate, roast, lactose, vanilla, a bit of coffee. Medium-bodied.

From tap at the brewpub. Dark brown to black color with beige head. Roasted malty aroma, chocolate, coffee, cocoa, coconut, vanilla. Moderate to heavy sweet, bitter taste with some acidic notes. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Draft at the brewpub. The beer is a bit watery, but it’s a 5% abv porter. Nice chocolate flavor. It pushes toward fruitiness but it’s pleasant enough. Very mild roast. Pretty much all chocolate with some light cola flavor. Nice, light caramel backbone. Mild flavors, which is the main issue. Mildly sweet in the taste. Light milk chocolate. Light body. More cola in the finish. Nice enough but not in the same class as their hoppy beers.
