Der Brauprozess des Wiess (Kölsch für Weiß) ist identisch mit dem unseres Kölsch. Es ist ebenfalls obergärig und hat die gleichen Inhaltsstoffe. Die Besonderheit – es wird nicht filtriert. Dadurch ist das Wiess eine Spur vollmundiger als unser Kölsch und unterscheidet sich auch deutlich in Geruch und Geschmack. In die Nase steigen leicht florale Noten gepaart mit einem Hauch Banane. Die feine Süße des Bieres wird umspielt von einer leichten Bittere. Ein echtes Geschmackserlebnis.

Bottle @ benzai. Murky weird yellow with a large white head. Smells herbs, malts, nothing crazy. Tastes sweet, malts.. Nothing crazy. Medium body, soft carbo.

0,5 l swingtop bottle from M&C Getränke, best before end of 2015. Hazy, pale straw yellow with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Slightly citric, floral-yeasty aroma with notes of bread, straw and lemon. Sweetish-fresh, floral-yeasty and slightly citric taste of straw and white bread with hints of lemon and vanilla, followed by a smooth, yeasty and minimally bitter finish. Thin to medium body, fresh and smooth mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Very easy drinking, highly refreshing and quite tasty. Extremely smooth on the palate and even somewhat floral and citric, making it so much more enjoyable than the average Kölsch. Good one!

Amber, hazy body, with a big, quite creamy, white head.
Aroma of ripe fruits, bread, honey, sweet fruits, spices.
Tastes of grass, lemon zest, orange, yeast, spices, some bread, some herbs, subtle sweet malts.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes bitter, grassy, zesty, quite dry, a bit herbal, yeasty, a bit malty.
Good. Quite unique for this style, pretty fruity, but still a bit too light for my taste. Overall one of the better Kölsch beers I’ve had.

500ml flip top bottle from trade with Erzengel, many thanks. BB 10/2015. yellow quite hazy color, small white head. smells of yeast, light sweetness, chewing gum, bread, flowers. light body, rather bubbly carbonation, light bubbly mouthfeel. taste of yeast, light sweetness, grains, some herbs, some fruits. finishes with bread and some citric and herbal bitterness. overal quite decent, nice and light taste, not too watery.

On tap at Hellers Brahaus, Koln, Germany, Saturday 29th March 2014 Pours pale battery egg yolky cloudy yellow with white head. Soft in mouth a bit of sweet orange which surprised me, not bad. Fine. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Viel besser als das Kölsch! Leicht herb-muffig, aber durchaus ok! Schöne Hefenote. Im Nachgeschmack wird es leicht herb und eine muffige Note verbleibt auf der Zunge.

Tap at Hellers, May 2013. Really, a kolsch? Opaque gold color and a lacing head. Lightly sour with some wheat. Rather muddled flavor and aroma, and what is there is neither very flavorful or very good at all.

Tap at Hellers Brauhaus, 26/04/13. Hazed light yellow/golden with a medium sized iff white head. Nose is pale malts, light spice, orange. Taste comprises pale malts, grass, citrus, orange, wheaty notes. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Ok on the whelming side.
