Draught. Dark brown, frothy head. Light aroma us toasty, little bit caramelly. Taste is toffeeish, maybe hints of fruit and caramel.

Draught at a membership bar/gaming place in Arncliff, Sydney, on August 10, 2013.Clear dark brown color, tan head. Sweet, malty, light, toffee taste. A bit of toffee aftertaste. Medium to fizzy moutfheel, medium low bitterness. Malty, a bit roasted scent.

375ml bottle. State of Origin tasting. Brown amber colour, thin off-white head and aroma of roasted malt, coffee. Taste is malty with roasted & slight chocolate notes, some fruitiness, and a light bitterness. Creamy mouth feel, light bodied, medium carbonation, dry finish. Quite OK.

Bottle. Dark brown with a light beige head that fades to a coat. Aroma of chocolate, stewed berries, coffee, grass. Lowish carbonation, fairly watery. Taste is like the aroma but is less gutsy. But it’s nicely balanced, with the modest bitterness finding its way forward right at the end. And whilst the flavours are modest there’s nothing out of place. Still fine on a warm night.

From a 375 ml bottle on 24/3/2012. Pours a very dark brown with a small head. Has a sweet caramel malt aroma. The flavour is more sweet caramel with some chocolate notes, and a touch of dark fruit. The body is relatively thin. A decent, easy drinking dark ale, and definitely one of the best things to carry the Tooheys label.

Bottled (Thanks to my cousin Kaj!). Deep ambery brown colour with a beigeish brown head. Aroma is mild roasted malts, caramel, some raisins and mild dark dry fruityness. Flavour is the same along with some mild burnt sugary notes as well as some slight resiny notes. Quite pleasant and balanced.

Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a small head.Nose shows nutty malt, chocolate, caramel and cardboardy notes.Flavours include caramel, nutty malt and slight roasty notes. Very easy drinking.Carbonation is a bit on the high side.Quite impressed with this to be honest.

Bottle. Dark reddish brown with very slight loose beige head (looked a bit like flat coke). Little aroma (maybe too cold). Medium to light body and carbonation. A mild taste of dark roiast malt with hints of dark chocolate, coffee, bread or biscuits and treacle. A small amount of bitterness in the finish. Drinkable, but not great.
