Bottle pour at RB Best. It pours black with no head. The aroma has rich coffee, fudge and alcohol. The flavor has some strong vinous wine notes, coffee, wood and rich dark chocolate. Very oily on the palate with mouthwatering wine-like acidity. Very low carbonation. Almost completely still. A real treat.

Bottle sample at RateBeer Best. Pours opaque black, minimal head or lacing. Aroma is heavy bourbon, molasses, chocolate. Flavor is light bitter, fully sweet, kind of like a bourbon chocolate liquor. Medium body. Glad I got a chance to try it, but not overly impressed.

Poured from a bottle at Ratebeer Best. Aroma has moderate dark fruit notes. Lots of roast and dark chocolate. Light ash and tobacco. Light bourbon and medium light port wine notes. Some light alcohol spice. Pours black with a small, thick, mocha head that recedes to the edges and disappears. No lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is a bit disappointing. Moderate chocolate notes with moderate roast. Some ash and tobacco as well. Some light bourbon and medium light oak notes with light port notes. Some dark fruit and light alcohol spice. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is very full bodied and viscous with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a bit of a disappointing beer. The port notes are a bit too strong and conflict with the ashy, roast forward malt profile. Too viscous as well.

Bottle shared at A Day To Sink All Sea Shepards tasting. Full lineup of 1-6 + DB. Black with no head. Aroma of alcohol upfront, really boozy, caramel, chocolate, sweet malt and molasses behind. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Maybe just too fresh but there was just too much noticeable alcohol coming out in this one. [17-09-2016]
