This live barrel of NW style sour red ale was initially aged for six months in French oak wine barrels, then additionally aged on elderberries. Sharp wine, dark raisins, red grapes and cereal notes greet you on the nose. Tart dark fruit and grapes on the palate lead to a sparkling crisp dry finish with hints of fresh elderberries and grape skins.

Dark red, almost brown. Aroma is funky and tart. Flavour is sour with pronounced elderberry notes.

van tap @Borefts 2016, donker bruin/amber met zeer fijne en volle kraag. aroma en smaken van hout, zoetig, bessen, wijn, druif, redelijk aan de zure kant, zacht, iets metalig/ijzer, medium body, zachte co2, lange zure afdronk.

Draft at Borefts 2016, Day 2. Clear brown with a small tan head. Aroma of dark berries and light wood notes. Flavour is above moderate sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. [24-09-2016]

Thank you for sharing BE RB Crew! Sampled draft @ Borefts 2016. Day 1. Very dark brown, small tanned head. Nose is massive jammy fruit, makes me thick of blueberry but that is the elderberry I suppose, crazily jammy, low wood. Taste is blueberry vinegar, low chocolacte, puckering, massive lindering dark berry, grapes, thick, wood, low acidity. Amazing jam, puckering, juicy, huge jam-like dark berries. Another absolutely wonderful Cascade brew.

Big light amber fizzy-creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet and fresh fruity, cranberries, minerals, fruit stones, oak, elderberries, grass, hints of mild vinegar. Taste is slightly dry and mild sour-ish fruity, sorrel, minerals, oak, sour cranberries, soda powder, elderberries, grass, berry skin. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and sour-ish mineraly mouthfeel. Nice.

Draft @ Borefts 2016. Ambrée, presque acajou col beige. Arôme au nez assez marqué niveau fruité noir, sureau en retrait tjrs avec cet accompagnement de boisé et de funk. Retrouve fines effluves vineuses sans pour cela qu’elles soient trop mises en avant. Palais est marqué entre son caractère malté, fruité noir avec un sureau qui est correcte mais où le côté aigre lactique ne fonctionne peut-être pas trop. Retrouve le côté aigre mais sans vraiment approcher la signature belge, on reste dans du fait US avec un profil centré sur cet usage parfois un peu trop abusif de levures sauvages forçant les papilles à avaler plus qu’il ne faut de ce côté aigre. Encore une fois, correcte mais certainement pas au prix demandé aux US et encore moins en Europe.

Sampled @ Borefts Beer Festival 2016, Day 1. Nice clear deep dark red to almost purple color, small to average sized white head. Smell and taste sourness, red berries, berries. Quite typical Flemish red-brown flavors, but not as harsh as they sometimes get, so fairly nice.

Sampled @ Borefts Beer Festival 2016. Trübes orange braunes Bier mit geringen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch nach roten Beeren, leicht säuerlich. Geschmack säuerlich fruchtig, rote Früchte, holzig, Gewürze.
