Outmeal Stout. When creating the recipe for this beer, we bore in mind what one associates with oatmeal. Hence the base was laden with a bunch of oat flakes, roasted malts and roasted barley. The end result reflects this - intensive flavours, a coffee and dark chocolate aroma and a creamy texture. So we would not smother this, we added only as much hops as was needed to delicately balance the flavour.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and dry with light fine minerally carbonation. Mild dry dark malts with mild coffee and a touch of dark malt cream. The dark malts turn a little tangy before the dry finish. Fine.

BOTTLE 33CL from Beerhunter. Thanks, Hans Peter!

Look: pitch black with an coffee head.
Aroma: moderate roast, toast, light red wine-like notes, red berries, and some strange soap bubbles-like off-flavour.
Taste: roasted, again those soap bubbles, strong roasted ashy flavours, quite sweet with some berry/red wine acidity, light hop bitterness.

33 cl bottle @ olio, BBE 23.10.2014
Aroma has cocoa, vanilla, some toffee and semi-dark chocolate. Also licorice. Flavour has somewhat salty licorice, some coffee notes, cocoa and hints of toffee. Nice and balanced. Feels Irish – this is quite close to Bryggeri Helsinki Stout I had yesterday. This is less salty though.

330ml bottle

Pours pitch black with a smooth white head. Aroma of roasted malts, smooth chocolate, cocoa, vanilla and coffee. Taste is smooth, roasty maltiness, cocoa, dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Finish is smooth, a bit stuffy and sweetish with some cocoa and vanilla notes. Okay, smooth but a bit stuffy stout.

On keg at the Red Squirrel. Appearance - opaque black with a thin crema head. I suspect it was overpoured. Nose - dark chocolate but also creamy. On returning to it there’s a briney note. Taste - dark bittee chocolate some raisins and roast. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good stout that engages the brain. The briney note makes me think oysters might work here.
