The 2014 Double DBA imperial special bitter is Firestone Walker’s flagship DBA brewed at double strength, using twice the amount of malts and hops. As with the regular DBA, the 2014 Double DBA was partially fermented in a union of new American oak barrels. After fermentation, the beer was racked and returned to the union barrels as well as bourbon barrels, where it aged for one year. The barrel mix for the 2014 Double DBA included vessels from Woodford Reserve, Elijah Craig and Four Roses.

On Tap at Blue Palms. Small tan head over a beautiful hazed amber body. Lightly hoppy with a few dark fruits and some toffee. Taste is rich with toffee, cherry, plum, and coconut milk. Silky mouthfeel. Light bubbles...great. 3.9
2012 bottle. Pours hazed copper brown with a fading off white head. Some legs. 3. Huge vanillin aroma, coconut, toffee, floral alcohol, marzipan and light fudge. Lightly floral hop character. Reminds me strongly of XV. 8. Flavors show a nice and complex toffee and burnt caramel note. Dry despite the massive abv and crystal. Balanced tannin, mild ester, low hop bitter. Banana foster,, light bourbon. Tannic, dry and warming finish. Medium low carbonation. Tasty.
