For this year’s Rainbow Project collaboration with Garage Project we drew the colour indigo. After much research on both sides the idea that excited us all most was that of the Blacklight Banana. Ripe bananas uniquely glow bright indigo under UV lights, one possible reason for this being that it identifies them as a food source for animals that see in the UV range, like bats. Molasses, Caramelised Bananas, Banana Purée and Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee Beans elevate this beer to something special. 330 ml. bottle @ Beerlovers Bar. Black, little head. Nose is very roasted malts, bitter mocha, burned grains & umami. Taste is overly big on bitter roasted coffee grounds, very big roast, far too umami for me, bitter roast, banana is sadly virtually abscent. Very bitter & dry coffee grounds body. Another bitter & umami RIS, not digging this current craze, definetly expected something more desert-like with far more banana which is almost abscent.

Bottle at home, 6th October 16. Pours black. Aroma is molasses, black treacle, maybe banana candy. Taste is black treacle, brown sugar, slight grit to it, not overly sweet. Very good.

Bottle shared at Mig & Ølsnedkeren. Pours dark brown with a small off white head. Aroma is roasted, smokey, banana and chocolate. Quite sweet, light bitterness, lift sour. Medium/full body, slick texture. Finish has a strong alcohol feel, banana, fairly dry and sour.

Bortle. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are nuts, caramel, roast malt, coffee, vegetables and hops. Nice and full bodied.

Pours black, good off white head. Smell is intense thick, metallicbitter. Taste is suprisigly soft. Extremely silky. Roasted malts , banana can be imagined, but in a very roasty, popcorn like way. Bit sweet, mild bitter. Bit lactic. Soft carbo. Mild coffee. Very complex !

Bottle from Oddbins Beer Shop, Blackheath. Pours black with a beige head. Aromas of banana toffee (an old pick ’n’ mix favourite!), coffee, caramel, dark chocolate. Same action in the flavour with a bit of licorice thrown in. Warm,tingling alcohol Burn. Sweet, malty finish. Tasty stuff.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark clear mahogany brown pour with a tan head, aroma has dark roast and some chocolate, taste has brown bananas, dark chocolate, bananofee pie, some coffee, dark berries, decent stuff.

330ml bottle from Honest Brew. Pours dark with medium tan head. Aroma is tantalising espresso roast, dark berries, mild chocolate. Taste is soft chocolate, layered dark malts, low roast, mild molasses and coffee with some smooth fruity yeast. Minimal mushy banana, although it does make a fleeting appearance in the aroma when the last of the bottle is poured. Smooth, gooey Imperial stout.

Keg at magic Rock rainbow event 2016.. Dark black. Thin tan lacing.. Soft sweet chocolate roast malts nose.. Dark sweet chocolate. Mlight sweet banana linger.. Dwf got better as it warmed.. Rich chocolate roast
