Mastri Birrai Umbri’s IPA is produced in Italy according to the traditional British style. It’s brewed with the best selection of pale and amber malts, top fermenting yeast and aromatic hops. It features an intense and cloudy amber colour with copper tones and a compact and persistent head. The aroma is characterized by the intensity of hops, with citrus and resinous notes, resulting from the dry hop with American and New Zealand hop varieties. The flavour is characterised by an important bitterness, balanced by the use of special malts which confer sweet malty notes; the finish is dry and fruity.

Huge amberish yellow, very dense head over furiously carbonated pinkish orange-amber beer, lacerings. Tobacco, malt whisky... what??? but the aromas are there. Bit yeasty... but not very hoppy. Sweet, rosewater, again a trace of tobacco... and again no trace of hops. Medium bodied, quite slick, very well-carbonated. Bit sweet - in fact, this is not an IPA by any means. Txs to Stef!

Bottle. Slightly cloudy dark orange sporting a massive white head. Aroma of stone fruits, caramel and a little bit of pine. Taste of malts, stone fruits, malts, some oranges, pine, marmalade and resin. Dry finish. Moderate to strong but somewhat harsh bitterness. Low to medium carbonation. Well it’s all there but it doesn’t quite mesh. I’m underwhelmed.

Bottle from Corti Bros. Pours medium copper with a large creamy/foamy near-white head. Aroma is citrus - arguably grapefruit. Med body or so. It's definitely bitter. Flavor is citrus/grapefruit with some mildly roasty hop. Nice drink.

300ml bottle from the Boise Co-op. Medium, cloudy amber, towering fluffy head. Malty aroma with earthy, woody notes. Taste brings more sweet malts, oak, a touch of astringent hops. Very much in the English style.
