Berliner Weisse-Style Ale with Added Passionfruit, Orange & Guava

We’ve had plenty of fan-favorite beers over the years, but few have garnered the cult-like adoration of this one. Stone Notorious P.O.G. was originally brewed at our 10bbl Liberty Station brewhouse in San Diego, as a collaboration with comedian / actor Jonah Ray. It’s a tribute to the passion fruit, orange and guava juice (aka POG) he grew up drinking in Hawaii. This Berliner Weisse-style ale is loaded with the aforementioned trifecta of fresh, tropical fruits, making for a unique flavor that’s tart and refreshing yet deeply rich and complex. It’s as ridiculously tasty as it is deliciously unique.

This beer was first brewed with Jonah Ray for Hop-Con 4.0. It was such a hit that we decided to brew a limited amount again this year. Jonah grew up playing POGs while he was living in Hawaii and drinking POG Juice so he wanted to create a beer with POG in mind. A very refreshing tart ale with plenty of fruit character. Passion fruit and guava intermingle with an intense orange punch.

Admin Note: This was initially released as part of the Stone Pilot Series in a limited draft-only release.

When I saw this, I thought it a little expensive but since berliner is one of my fave styles, I bot the farm. 3 dollar can from chalet. Cloudy pale. barely any head, its more like pond scum. Has a lemony mild nose. First taste is quite yummy. Nice even feel about it. Quite easy and pleasant but has a hint a processed feel in the background. Yes, friendly and decent, civilized at times. Tasty in the middle, makes me want to slam it. Catharina eh? Learn something new every day. This stuff is growing on me. This just may be one of the better stones I've smashed. Getting better fer sher. Finish makes me want another, nice job stoney.

Canned 355ml. -from Goblet Zagreb. Unclear yellow coloured, small white head, passion fruit and citrus in the nose. Slightly acidic passion fruit and mild grapefruit taste with rather strong carbonation.

355 ml can. Cloudy orange with a creamy foamy head. A lot of passion fruit, a lot of mango, guava, grenadine, orange, lemon, some grapefruit peel. Mild dry sourness, light fruity sweetness. Medium bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, dry fruity sour finish. Really great, but lacks a bit in sourness.

Hazy pale yellow white head. Massive citrusbomb. Sour fruitjuice, tangerine, grapefruit. Sweet and tart, very fruity. Nothing wrong with this but too much fruit juice for my taste.

Tap at 100 piv. Finally one that traveled well. Moderate sourness, but with a very soft edge, silky creamy mouthfeel. Med-thin body, med-high carbonation. Fruit-centered character, moderate tropical fruits, maracuja, guava. Juicy, tasty, easy drinking. Quite good.
