Tap at a Vietnamese restaurant. Dark gold, clear, with a tall, fine head. Herbal netles aroma, nasty astringent herb, rough nose. Lightly sweet, malty flavor, citrus and herbs, but not netles, very little of the nastiness. Bitter, tannic finish. What did they put in this, and why is it mostly in the nose?

Surprised this wasn't on RB and yet not really. Az Krušovice 11% at Tučňák / Penguin on Nekázanka in Prague, since they were out of two more interesting beers. Apparently a bunch of my friends love it since it's cheap and central... aaanyway, full, darker golden body, clear, fleeting white head. Malt driven, no hops in evidence, vaguely caramelly, some apple. Boring, sweetish, empty malty taste, with traces of herbal hops, before heading into a bitter finish. Non beer-geek friends figured it sucked even before I said anything. It's not off, it's just an extremely boring industrial lager devoid of any character and, really, moreishness which a lager should have.
