SMaSH (Single Malt and Single Hop) IPAs are simple creatures, allowing the true essence of ingredients to shine through. Occasionally, the simple begets the complex. Yellow Rose is brewed with this philosophy, creating a deliciously complex and irresistible IPA. Santa Anna knows…
Tasting notes: chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone. The hops impart strong grapefruit, pineapple, and blueberry flavor and aroma.

Thnx to Kenny ! Pours unclear yellow, good white head. Smell is fruity , some blueberries indeed (thnx, description ! ) rather creamy. taste is full, surprisingly bitter. Very crisp maltyness ( i love that !) some citrussy notes. Bit floral as well, and all in a great balance and intensity. Also the mouthfeel is really good, with a perfect carbo. I’d love to try an imperial version of this, but I can honestly say it’s one of the ( or the ? ) best mosaic IPA’s i’ve had so far. 4.1 re-rate after a second bottle. this should be at least a few months old now, so actually ’too old’ for the IPA-purists. I must say I like it as much as the one I drank 2 months (?) earlier, perhaps even more ! This is impressive, and thus I feel like I should ’up ’ the score just a little bit.

A honey gold it’s got a filmy white head. A prickly pear fruity hop bouquet - mosaic. Soft roundouthfeel and raspy carbonation. The taste earthy bitter tropical fruits, kind of like the bark meeting the fruit steam. Crisp flavor, bitter but balanced.

Keg at Flying Saucer, Houston. It pours clear golden - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, bready, juicy, bright grapefruit character, grassy, danky, spring onion and stewed nectarine/peach. The taste is crisp, bitter, dank, grassy, green hoppage, grapefruit, minerals, light spice and light alcohol with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Rather tasty stuff.

Keg at the Whip In - Austin. Pours hazy gold with a thick, creamy white head. Clean citrusy hops in the nose, some tangerine, a little pale malt, melon. Light to medium sweet flavour with low bitterness, ripening citrus, more tangerine, a little meringue, dough, melon, peach. Medium bodied with delicate carbonation. Finishes with further juicy citrus character, pale bread, light pine, more peach, grapefruit, tangerine. Great stuff. Really smooth, fresh and drinkable.
