SMaSH (Single Malt and Single Hop) IPAs are simple creatures, allowing the true essence of ingredients to shine through. Occasionally, the simple begets the complex. Yellow Rose is brewed with this philosophy, creating a deliciously complex and irresistible IPA. Santa Anna knows…
Tasting notes: chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone. The hops impart strong grapefruit, pineapple, and blueberry flavor and aroma.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is super fruity with a lot of tropical fruit with lots of mango, papaya and pineapple. Some lighter notes of red apple and stone fruit. Light malt notes. Pours a cloudy, copper orange with a large, moderately thick, slightly off white head with high lacing. Small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with a fairly high bitterness. Light alcohol in the finish. Lots of tropical fruit hop flavors, light stone fruit and red apple. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice IPA. If you like mosaic hops (I do) you will like this beer. Light malt notes, but quite a bit of body. Good bitterness. Super fruity.

Hay Merchant, Houston tap: Pours golden with a wwhite head. Aroma is a combination of citrus, resin, flowers, and overall very wet. Other people say dank, and I would not disagree. The bitterness hits you well without having the beer lose any of its nice flavorful hop characteristics. Better than the other APA of theirs I had.

On draught at Anvil Bar & Refuge. This beer pours a clear bright gold color with a medium fluffy white head that diminishes gradually. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, toasted malt and pine. The finish is mildly bitter with a short herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
