Cask; special for the Wetherspoons Autumn 2014 International Real Ale Festival.

Heather McReynolds has travelled to Adnams Brewery, in Suffolk, to brew this beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. The abundance of American hops in this light amber beer imparts a floral, citrus aroma and notes of grapefruit, orange and spice in the flavour, leading to a thirst-quenching bitterness balanced by a malty backbone.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Amber with a moderate white head. Toffee, pine and tropical fruits- peach and kiwi maybe. Excellent condition. Light bitterness but very well balanced (as always seems to be the case with Adnams). Dangerously easy to drink and very more-ish. Nice one, another great collab from Adnams. Have they done a bad collab yet? Keep going back and increasing the score as I drink more- this really is a great bitter. An early contender for beer of the festival for me.

Cask at the Victoria Station Spoons - London. Pours clear gold with a creamy white head. The nose holds leaves, dry grains and citric hops. Light-medium sweet flavor, somewhat astringent, with leafy and grassy bitterness, some ripe orange, faint plastic. Medium bodied with aoft carbonation. More citric hops to finish, grass, plastic, husky grains, some melon and tropical fruits. OK.

Cadk handpull Hertford Spoons. Clear amber colour lasting beige head. Grapefruit and resin hop aroma. Bit watery in the mouth. Subtle hops on the finish. It’s not bad. Pretty drinkable. Just that watery swallow. Decent strong bitter though.

Cask at the Bear (JDW), Maidenhead. Brilliant amber with a ring of white head; herbal aroma; herbal taste - with lingering garden mint; the finish is dry and lasting with a woody bitterness. Pleasantly different.
