This deep mahogany beer, brewed again especially for this Wetherspoon real ale festival, has a superb, creamy head, with caramel, vanilla and a slight hop tang, leading to a distinctive creamy texture and a full refreshing flavour.

Cask at the moon under water Watford jdw. Copper coloured pour with a thin cream head. Aroma is roast coffee, kamp coffee, coco, nutty. Flavour is semi sweet nutty malts with praline, coco, little thin. Palate is medium sweet with creamy mouth feel and lowish carbonation. OK.

Dark brown, mahogany colour. Aroma and taste both have a tart acidity like red fruits. Flavour also has sugary, caramel sweetness.

Cask@Sir John Oldcastle, London. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some mild toasted notes along with quite floral and grassy bitterness. Flavour is fruity, wooden, floral, herbal and a bit caramelly as well. Pleasantly balanced.

Caramel brown, clear, off white creamy head, good lacing
Aroma - caramel malts, some hedgerow hops, no usual caley corn malt aroma here
Taste - Caramel malts, some fruity berries, touch of hedgerow hops, bit of dark toffee, yeast esters, after drinking a while I get more of this yeast taste which I’m not really liking
Palate - soft carb, medium body, smooth texture. Finish as main flavour, tail end bit more bitter, but those Caley corn malts are back...getting a faint hint of salt
Overall - It was quite good at first but after a while my opinion of the beer dropped and I started not to like it very much - just a 2.9

Appearance: Clear, chestnut brown body with a thick, lasting beige head. No carbonation. Great lacing.
Taste: Chocolate and butterscotch flavours. Very malty and easy to drink. Gentle bitter finish.
Palate: Medium body with a slick, oily mouthfeel. No carbonation.
Overall: A lovely bitter - subtle and moreish.

Cask at The Willow Walk, JDW, London. Pours clear, amber-red with a tight, off-white cream head. Nose holds some berries, mild dark malts and semi-dark frutis. Medium sweet flavor with plenty of berries, very mild toffee, some grapes and soft, leafy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly sweet on the finish, with some fructose, semi-dark fruits, ripened berries, touches of toffee and toasty sugar. Pretty nice beer.

Goodmans Fields ’Spoons. Clear dark amber beer, good off white head. Light dry palate. Dry malt, a little sweet and with a touch of ester. Dried fruits - tiny bit of citrus. Dry finish. Well balanced and fine. 2.9

Crosse Keys Spoons. Cask. Clear deep amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth and light palate, semi dry with mild fine carbonation. Malts bring toffee, dry cream and nice touch of mellow nuts! Sweet bubblegum esters. Ripe orange and tangy orange underneath. Light semi dry finish. A tasty little number.

Hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons on 18th July 2012. Dark brown body with a head that was creamy in colour and texture: good lacing clung to the side of my UK pint sleeve as the beer level sank. Mixed bag of malty goodness in the nose and taste with a mild hop content preventing the beer becoming too sweet or malty. Smooth more than rich: a pleasant pint with a good well-balanced feel to it.
