Bottle share with thanks to FLBH. Pours black with thin white head, smells of smoke and sweet bread, tastes chocolate and smoke with a hop finish. Not hugely XDA but nice enough

Can: Poured a clear black color ale with a nice brownish foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of light roasted malt with light citrusy hops is OK. Taste is a mix of light dry roasted malt with some light citrusy malt with some discernible bitterness. Body is too thin for style with OK carbonation. Body was too thin and overall malt profile was somewhat off.

Can from the LCBO. Very dark brown with burgundy highlights under a two finger fluffy tan head that fades slowly and leaves a bit of lace. Lots of roast, coffee and toffee behind a big pine nose with some floral and spice notes lingering in the background. Very little sweetness here. Mostly bitter chocolate and coffee and pine from start to finish. Medium slick mouth with slightly soft carbonation and a long dry lingering finish. Nice Black IPA.

Single can from the LCBO. Pours a real dark brown colour with red highlights. Big frothy mocha head with good retention and nice lacing. Oh wow... more on the sweet scent with chocolate malt and beautiful spices. Almost hints of anise with some mild grass. The hop is more present in the taste with some nice light bitterness, dry finish. Not as sweet for the flavours, more on the roasted malt as the base with some good hops. A pretty nice black IPA.

A dark brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with pungent piney hops, dark fruits, molasses, nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with light floral hops, catty notes, light sulfur, interesting. Cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest 2014.

On tap at the Ottawa beerfest. On the house from chatting with the friendly staff. They are 2.5 years old as a brewpub and in the midst of building a production facility. This is their award-winning black IPA a coal black pour with a tan head. A clean roasty aroma with a floral hop bouquet. Medium bodied the taste is chocolate, coffee grinds and hops. Pretty good.

Bottle - Roast malts and burnt toast. Jet black with a thin brown head. Lots of roast with a light hop bitterness. Finish is all roast. Hops are in the background and peek out ocassionally.
