Can. Dark brown colour, though not a lot of head. The aroma has a fudgey dark malt character, with some earthy hop and a minty, anisey note. Has a spicy, anisey note, with sweet brown sugar and fudge. That spicy character is a bit over the top, but there’s just enough dark sugars to make it work.

500mL can, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out lots of roasted malt, piney hops, and a little dark fruitiness. Flavour is robust, with a nice balance between roasted malt and piney hops, a touch of fruitiness, and a nice bitter, roasted astringency on the finish. Very good.

Tallboy from Beer Store in Ottawa. Pitch black pour. Tan head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts with floral hops - nice but not overpowering. Taste has a bitter hoppy kick, good roasted woody malt flavor. No coffee or chocolate. Palate is slightly rich. Really nice straightforward black IPA. Tingling bitterness lasts.

Aroma is nutty roast, lactose, milky, toasted coconut ,. Flavour is composed of piney wood, small roast, nutty grains, mineral, choc and light roasted barley. Palate is medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Tangy roast I the finish.

Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co, Clekenwell - London. Many thanks to Dave for the BIPA scoop! Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Burnt toast in the nose, with undertones of raisins and cocoa. Light-medium sweet flavor with light ashy roast, coffee, weak cocoa. Light in body with average carbonation. Moderately roasty on the finish, with nips of light chocolate, coffee grounds and dried berries. Fine.

This IPA poured a deep black colour with a big brown foamy head. Scents include a lot of grass, hops and mineral water. First swig was a little thin but full of flavour. Tastes of molasses, roasted malts, hay/grass and a little coffee. Finish is roasty with medium bitterness.

Craft Clerkenwell Bottle Share. Can thanks to big Dave and as ’Big Rig Black IPA’. Clear dark amber - brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is airy and dry, modest fine carbonation. Thin and mellow dark malts. Traces of roast, coffee and dark chocolate. Super mild pine hops and a trace of floralness. Whisper of dark fruits. Light dry finish. A bit tame but okay.

Can thanks to the Wingman. It pours near black with a medium light tan head. The nose is toasty, earthy roast, cocoa, cherry cola and damp cardboard. The taste is toasty, earthy roast, charred wood, pepper, toast and ash with a very dry, earthy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. A pretty basic CDA says me.

Can split at CBC Clerko, big thanks to FLBH and the Wingmane, 10/09/15. Dark mahogany brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is malty, light cocoa strains, toffee, rather muted. Taste comprises light charr, earthy hop, milk chocolate, red berry fruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Mediocre stuff, lacks hops and direction.
