A double IPA fermented with Sake yeast, infused with fruit and aged in barrels for a year. Originally brewed and served young for the Hanging Bat’s 1st Birthday party, this is the same beer one year on...

Bottle from Bon Vivant’s Companion. Appearance - orange-brown and cloudy with some nice lacing. Nose - wood, dried red fruits, some sweetness from the sake yeast. Taste - sour and drying raspberry with quite a dominant wood note. Palate - medium to full bodied with a lovely creamy yet tight middle section and a dry long sour finish. Overall - it’s lovely, and if there’s one thing I’d change, it’d be that the wood note dominates a bit too much. Perhaps back blend into more fresh beer like they do with Rodenbach, etc.

Cloudy brown beer with very little head and a strong aroma of fruit and alcohol. Taste is initially mellow but the fruit, malt and (presumably) saki then come through with quite a strong hit. It’s nice and interesting for a change but I’d probably only want one every so often.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours hazy red-brown, thin off-white head. Lots of red berry aromas, swear I can pick up a sake note too, some chocolate. Taste has more chocolate, raspberry, and a bitter zingy finish. Very nice.
