Bottle from BEER:shop, Hitchin. Pours beautiful - almost black with a good sized light brown head. Quite light aroma of milk chocolate, with moderate roasting, malt, lactose, very slight liquorice and dark fruits. Moderate sweetness with medium roasted bitterness in perfect proportions. Full bodied, slick texture, soft to flat carbonation. Rich chocolate finish. Very enjoyable .

Cask at the 22nd Watford beer festival, Watford, Herts. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, chocolate, dark fruit aroma. Tastes roasty, chocolate, dark fruit, quite sweet but also enjoyable stuff from my nearest brewery.

Opaque dark brown colour, good frothy tan head, mostly diminishing, thin layer remains, good lacing. Rich aroma, roasted malts, cocoa, caramel, hint of dark fruits. Flavour medium sweet and bitter, roasty, dark chocolate, some toffee, spicy and earthy notes. Sweetbitter aftertaste, leading to a dry finish, spicy notes, bit ashy. Light to medium body, creamy to watery body, soft carbonation, could use a bit more body but otherwise a decent stout.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Fergus. Almost opaque brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and reasonable carbonation. Fluffy dark malts, tangy, some dark chocolate. Tangy dark fruits. A little floral thing and well buried sweet and spicy esters. Dry finish. Just another stout.

Bottle thanks to Fergus at level 42. It pours black with a decent light tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, plum, date, fruit compote, Dandelion & Burdock, cocoa, charred roasted malt, burnt tires and Eccles cake. The taste is bitter, roasted malt, charred wood, umami, salted liquorice, cocoa and earth with a dry, ashy finish. Medium bud and fine, foamy carbonation. Not bad, a bit dry perhaps. Decent.
