A luscious caramel aroma, with a melt-in-the-mouth maltiness, lots of ripe fruits and a slight sweetness, underpinned by a soft, lingering, balancing bitter finish.

On cask at the Haymarket Bar. Appearance - hazy golden yellow. Did not expect that from a marzen. Nose - flowers, lemon and custard. Taste - lemon custard again. Again not what I expected. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long rich finish. Overall - light a rich golden ale rather than a Bavarian malty lager. Nice though.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Gold with a large creamy white head and a light sparkle. Sweet sherbert and pepper up front but then turns watery and descends into nothingness followed by a mild cardboardy bitterness. Poor.
