A luscious caramel aroma, with a melt-in-the-mouth maltiness, lots of ripe fruits and a slight sweetness, underpinned by a soft, lingering, balancing bitter finish.

Cask at the George, Croydon. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is toasty, wood, spice, soap and cheap aftershave. The taste is sweet pale malt, soap, orange sponge cake, citrus peel, spice, plastic, rubbing alcohol and straw with a bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Big cheap aftershave character to it, but not in a good way. A bit of a car crash.

Hamilton Hall Spoons. Cask. Bright clear gold beer, small white head. Palate is smooth with mild fine carbonation. Malt is smooth, light and dry. A dominant milky creamy sweetness runs throughout. Whisper of citric peel, well buried. Dry finish. An odd bird this one.

Cask at Victoria Station Spooneria, 31/03/14, JDW Spring 2014 Fest Beer #12. Clear golden with a good sized off white head that thins and retains. Nose is toasted malt, wheaten bread, orange, caramel, orchard fruit. Taste comprises more malt loading, Caramac bar, citrus peel, biscuit twang, mellow fruit underlay. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough easy drinker - not a bitter though, perhaps ESB or indeed a Marzen/Oktoberfest?
