Guinness The 1798 is the second offering of the Guinness Signature Series which offers a range of limited edition luxury beers. Utilizing the artistry of Guinness Master Brewers, this series features beers made from rare and highly sought after ingredients. The Guinness Signature Series(TM) gives beer drinkers more options for different occasions, from fine dining to exquisite gifting.
This Signature 1798 Double Extra Stout is a tribute to the original Old Vat House built in 1798. The brew is deep, rich, complex and extremely rare. It uses 100% malt, some crystal malt for the distinct caramel and chocolate smoothness on the palate, plus the world famous Guinness home roasted barley for the classic taste. This luxuriant brew is then finished over the original English oak wood of Old Vat House 1 from 1798, to bring out a unique subtle wood character steeped in history.

many thanks for sharing, kapusil! Almost black colour minimal beige head; aroma of dried unripe plum, some cocoa, toasted rye bread, coffee and green apple; taste is bittersweet with cocoa, apple, and dried plum as well as toasted rye bread and woody notes; Cool!

0.75l bottle. Pitch black body, foamy light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, cherries, figs, cloves, caramel and cocoa. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, apples, cherries and floral hops. More like a porter than a stout for me, but I like it.
