We are the only brewing company in Britain to employ a full-time craft cooper, something of which we are very proud. Our oak casks are hand-made using as many as fourteen different tools handed down from generation to generation. Our oak casks continue to be supplied to a dedicated group of licensees who insist on serving beer from the wood. To celebrate our coopering tradition we have created Masham Oaked Ale. Inspired by the growing consumer interest in beer styles from around the world, we blend our normal finest quality Pale Ale with Crystal and Munich malts which, combined with the hints of vanilla flavour of oak and the New Zealand Wakatu hop to give a beer of outstanding floral and vanilla oaked character.
