Captain’s Log: In the farthest reaches of the universe we experienced a phenomenon called Total Eclipse. A Total Eclipse can have different colors and encase you completely to block out all light from the universe. This eclipse came suddenly, turned everything blacker than black around us, then vanished into thin air a few moments later leaving only the memory behind.

Tap at Boreft’s’14: Dark brown colored brew with an slighlty sweet bitter taste and hints of roasted malts and chocolate. Very wonderful Stout from Copenhagen.

Tap at Borefts 2014. Pours black with a medium light brown head. Aromas of coffee, light chocolate, vanilla and marshmallow. Taste is pretty roasty up front, still has some vanilla, some licorice and some dark sweet fruits.

330ml bottle [heavy gusher!]. Jet black colour with huge, thick, collapsing, minimally lacing, creamy, tan head. Roasty dark malty and herbal hoppy aroma, notes of dark chocolate, peppermint, hints of raosted nuts, initially weak peaty overtones gain some weight with time. Taste is rather dry, roasty dark malty, minimally smoky, hints of dark chocolate, peat, leather.

33cl bottle from Bacchanalia, Cambridge. My God this is a lively bottle. When it settles after pouring, it reveals a dense, pitch black liquid with a tight tan head on top. Gorgeous. Heady scent of porridge with golden syrup, salted caramel, some pecan pie, a metallic hint buried somewhere. Ridiculously sweet, but it’s lovely. Some bittering hop quells the intensity of the gooey sugary ecstasy. Long balanced finish. Perfect syrupy body. A real winner.

Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Absolute gusher, the Vesuvius reference has already been made so for freshness this gushed like Krakatoa. In fact it gushed so much I had to console it and suggest it called the Samaritans. Once it calmed down I surprisingly managed to only lose a quarter of the beer. Anyway, black pour with a tan head. Dark chocolate, raisin and licorice aroma. Flavours of burnt spice, licorice and coffee. Despite its explosive character the good carbonation is still there after the storm’s over. Has a nice sweet finish. Good stuff.

Flaske 330ml. Gave fra Lars. Delt med Rune på Nerstranda 27 Okt 15. Litt hissig. Vil gjerne ut av flaska på egen hånd. Veldig høyt mokkafarget skum. Litt lacing. Litt sjokolade i aromaen. Overraskende frisk. Smaken er syrlig røstet malt. Litt tørr etter hvert. Uvariert - men god.
