25 cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Pink thin head. Hazy pink pour. Sweet grapefruit flavour. Not great. Sickly sweet.

Tasted at a Zythos Bierfestival when it was just launched onto the market, but giving it a re-rating now since I was generously donated a bottle. Thickly cobweb-lacing, irregular yet dense, creamy, off-pinkish head over a cloudy beer with a weird colour which is best described as light coral, i.e. somewhere between deep, warm orange on the one hand and ’old’ salmon pink on the other hand - looks almost like some alcopop. Aroma is very artificial: pink grapefruit lemonade-like ascorbic acid dominates, Fanta, orange peel, the bottles of artisanal pink (strawberry-flavored) yoghurt I recall from childhood, and underneath this, an earthy, bready graininess still lurks, reminding you that instead of some lemonade or pink alcopop, you are still drinking beer - and in fact, I had lots of similar products which were notably less ’beery’ than this. Expectedly sweet, sugared onset with a bitterish edge, a bit like sparkling pink grapefruit lemonade again with deep ascorbic acidity preventing it from becoming too cloying but still palpable on the teeth; softer carbo than expected but still fairly spritzy, light and lean body with some very light ’breadiness’ and clear soapy ’wheatiness’ suffering from the pink grapefruit dominance; finishes juicy but a bit sticky as well, sugary, lemonade-like with a Schweppes Agrum-kind of feel to it, soapy, with a late but unmistakable bitterness, not feeling very natural (hoppy) but rather wry and chemical. This wryness tips the scales for me: at first, I was still willing to suspend my disbelief since I felt more ’beeriness’ to this than to many other sweet fruit beers, but then came the artificial, unpleasant ending. I understand this is popular among youngsters in the Silly region, but this is very adolescent in many respects (including the label) and probably intended as such. Then again, I’d rather see those same youngsters with this than with a Bacardi Breezer or something alike. Still: this is a designer product from an unlikely source, not intended to taste like beer. To be avoided - apart from the fact that I never liked pink grapefruit anyway.

Pours pink with a small, frothy, white head. The aroma contains artificial grapefruit, as was expected, bubblegum, yoghurt, soda and wheat. It tastes medium to heavy sweet and light grapefruit-like bitter with a rather dry, astringent, wheaty finish. Light body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. An unenjoyable, artificial Fruit Beer. This getting some points for the phrase "jus de pamplemousse", which I could never tire of saying. The beer itself though is poor. Pours hazy pink, thin white head. Aromas of aspartame and Refreshers. Tastes like toilet cleaner. Bitter, artificial finish.

250 ml bottle. Pours amber with light head. Strong aromas of phenol, candied grapefruit, and resin. Flavors of medicinal cough syrup, burnt grapefruit peels, and resin. Sweet. Odd for a beer but an interesting cooler or base for a cocktail. Certainly clears the palate between big beers. Better warmer than cold.

Draught at Delirium Café. Hazy red/pink liquid with small white head. Aroma of perfume, rubber, band-aid, lemon, soap, urinal and resorb. Taste is light to medium sweet, awful and with notes of rubber, sugar, Fisherman’s Friend, vitamin pill and soap. Very artificial. Light bodied with medium to high carbonation. Really, really bad. Just awful.
