Named after atom bomb test grounds, designed by a French car engineer - the bikini was to many a disturbing and degrading creation and fortunately for others a symbol of emancipation. This is attractively light bodied, seductively well balanced and very drinkable Sour Bikini is anything but a sissy beer.

22 oz bomber purchased at K-7 Liquors in Shawnee, Kansas. The pour is hazed yellow orange with not much of a white head. The aroma is tangerine clementine fruit, with sour lemon citrus. The taste is the strong tart sour lemon citrus upfront, closely followed by the clementine fruit flavor and then moves into a funky lactic acid rotten egg flavor in the back. There is a hint of stale popcorn present as well in the long finish. The palate is light bodied with sparkly carbonation that flattens out and the weird funk finish lingers. Interesting, and an accomplishment to have this level of flavor in a 3% beer, however the unclean finishing flavor detracted for me. This was possibly not fresh, though no bottle date.

On tap at Haute Dish. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet lemon, kind of like a lemon drop candy, with a decent amount of sourness and some underlying yogurt. Flavor has lots of sour lemon with a light sweetness and a bit of yogurt underlying.

On tap at What’s Brewing. An unclear, yellow-orange beer with a small, white head. The aroma is resiny and grapefruity, with some pale malts. It’s medium bodied and dry, lightly tart on the palate, with flavors of pale malts as a backdrop for grapefruit and pine cones, some bitterness and a doughy touch, and a fine acidity. Lasting finish. A refreshing, easy drinkable beer. 141101
