Named after atom bomb test grounds, designed by a French car engineer - the bikini was to many a disturbing and degrading creation and fortunately for others a symbol of emancipation. This is attractively light bodied, seductively well balanced and very drinkable Sour Bikini is anything but a sissy beer.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy bright golden color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, pear, apple, white grape, white vinegar, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, wheat, cracker, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, citrus hops, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, pear, apple, white grape, white vinegar, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, wheat, cracker, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of fruity/earthy tartness and light spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, pear, apple, white grape, white vinegar, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, wheat, cracker, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, balance, and robustness of fruity/funky yeast, citrus hops, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately acidic mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 3%. Overall this is an excellent session sour ale. All around great complexity, balance, and robustness of fruity/funky yeast, citrus hops, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink with balanced acidity. A very enjoyable offering.

This beer is a slightly cloudy pale yellow color with a medium foamy white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing. Tart citrus and wheat in the nose. Light-bodied with a lemony character and notes of grassy hops and wheat. The finish is mildly sour with a tart citrus aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle shared at the DC Pre-Thanksgiving tasting. Poured a hazy pale golden color with a small white head. Aroma was notes of lemon zest, tart, sour notes. Flavor was light malts, earthy hop notes. Crisp, easy to drink, with some solid tartness. Low abv made this very very easy to drink. Came back to this one a few times at the end.

From the 11/2014 3R6P gathering. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a slightly hazy very pale yellow color with a small foamy white head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was tart, dryish and sour with strong grapefruit and sour patch candies. The flavor was sweet and tart with intense fresh grapefruit, sour patch candies and a bit of yeast. Makes you pucker a bit. Very long tart grapefruit finish. Medium body. Interesting.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours translucent lemon with a slight white head. Light sor/tart/funk aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is sort of earthy sour lemon. Kind of Berliner Weisse. Finishes nicely fruity/tart/sour. Refreshing.
