Bottle shared in Hackney - thanks to Fergus. Pours oily black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Lots of ashy roast, dark chocolate, smoke. Medium sweet flavour with lots of charred malts, baking cocoa, scorched earth. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more ashy roast, dry baking cocoa. Rich.

Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours opaque jet black with a small tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, tangy berry, dried fruits, fruit cake, vanilla, whisky, earthy, oily, burnt pink marshmallow, oak, toffee and honey. The taste is rich roasted malt, very dry, charred wood, ashy, ashtray, dried fruits, fruit cake, boozy, tar, whisky and some astringency with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Great aroma, but a bit ashy. Decent anyhow.

330ml bottle. Pours black, small pale tan head. Some candy-shop aromatics alongside some whisky and dark malts. Taste is similarly sweet with soft whisky integration, lightly peated with soy and soft roast. Medium-bodied and quite drinkable.

Taste is heavy roast, smoked peat, chocolate, dried fruits, oak, soy. Medium body, oily complexion. Fine lasting carbonation. Bitter sweet, smoked whisky, boozy finish. Rich & smooth. Might need more time

Bottle. Nose is whiskey, soy, vanilla, cherry, almost cherry coke. Taste leads with fruity, whiskey notes before drying out into to soy, treacle, earthy, bitter coffee, hint of chocolate, whiskey liqueur, with a lasting whiskey finish. It's got a sticky mouthfeel but is dangerously moreish and easy to drink. The barrel aging compliments rather than swamps the base beer.
