Bottle. Turner’s, Sheffield. Nearly black. Dense ring of tan head. Nose has long empty whisky glass. Liquorice. Fruit and nut chocolate. Some savoury smoke. Taste is savoury, salty, fruity bitter. Any sweetness sticks firmly to the lips. Full body. Soft carbonation. Big chew. Salty, woody, boozy finish. I get why some may like this, but for me it’s really hard work.

Bodney Towers bottleshare. Thanks to Mr Frog. Almost opaque dark brown beer, good dark tan head. Airy palate semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts. Rich coffee. A little tangy dark chocolate. Bitterish whisky and whisky soaked fruits. Light dry finish. Tasty but I prefer my Impies a bit sweeter than this.

Black colored, thick, medium tan creamy head, good lasting. Aroma is of chocolate and roasted malt, dark fruit, oaky barrel, brown sugar, bit peat. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, chocolate and roasted malt, bit brown sugar and toffee, oaky whisky notes, some peat, medium roasty and coffee bitterness, dryish finish, some alcohol notes with light warmth. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation, creamy. Peaty but just enough for some extra depth, nice. (bottle)

Bottle from the Brewery online shop. Pours oily black with a thin tan head. Aromas of peat, ash, chocolate and leather. Taste is more peat, smoke, dark chocolate. Not quite as rich as the arran version, but still nice.
