Special release for the 2011 Craft Brewers Conference in San Francisco.
This sour brown ale was made by Russian River with Sierra Nevada, using the latter’s Keller Weise yeast for the primary fermentation, and barrel aged with Russian River’s house “bugs and critters” in wine barrels from Fritz Maytag’s York Creek Vineyards.

Arbitrary score 4/5 for Appearance, as nighttime conditions prevented correct assessment. Plastic, lactic acid, fruitacids, berries, milky. Soft sourness, lactic acids and some lightly coloured malts; fruity and lactic character. Medium bodied, quite slick Quite nice, if also quite discreet beer; A rather uncharacteristic one for Vinnie, as far as I know. Many thanks to both CarlK and Vinnie!

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of sour fruits and wood. Flavour of sour funky fruits, wood, oxidation and a touch of Worcestershire sauce. Decent, but not up to R.R. standard for sours.

on tap-pours a light tan head and cloudy brown color. Aroma is sour fruit-cherry, secondary medium malt. Taste is sour fruit-cherry, wood, secondary medium malt. 3.5 110422-12oz bottle-Aroma is tart/sour-lemon. Taste is tart/sour-lemon, medium malt. 3.7

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours murky deep copper with off white head. The aroma is tartness, some soured fruit, cherry skins, a bit of brown sugar and apple skins. Smells tart and tannin like. The taste has up front tartness that begins to reveal itself as cherry and apple skins, un-ripe cherries and getting somewhat crushed aspirin like. I also get a very thin brown sugar note from time to time too. You can really taste the rare-ness of this beer.
