Brekeriet Cassis is a sour ale mainly fermented with Brettanomyces yeast. Black currant is added during the secondary fermentation and this yeast loves berries which is shown in the fantastic taste of the beer. Brekeriet Cassis is refermented in the bottle which gives a thin layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

Bottle. Dark ruby red body, unclear, and with a pink, finger-thick head. The aroma is quite cherry-ish at first, with a nice earthy blackcurrant showing up after a few seconds. Some peppery hints and a lemony, funky touch. The flavor has loads of blackcurrant, some pepper notes, lemon and a leathery hint. Medium body, pleasant carbonation. Lovely lasting finish. Really pleasant this one, even though I don’t care too much for blackcurrant. 150524

Pours clear red with a pink head. Aroma has notes of malt, black currant, funk and tartness. Taste is light sweet and light to medium sour with a long black currant, funky, dry and sour finish. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

Bottle at tad’s. Pours clear ruby, nose is funky, earthy, ribena, taste is quite tart, sour, fruity.

750 ml bottle.Pours a garnet red with very slight pink head. Strong aromas of cranberries and currants. Bright flavors of cranberries, currants, and raspberries. Light tartness. Not much in the way of malts but highly enjoyable.

Reddish colour with pink foamy head. Aroma of sour fruits. Flavour has fruity sourness and bitterness (from the blackcurrant seeds?).

Tap @ De Molen Beerfestival 2014. Pours pink with a bubbly head. Ribena solbær but really funky and dry. Rynkeby most. Lovely!

A - Gorgeous beer. deep blood red purple with a pink 3 finger head that fades slowly
S - Nose is just straight up currants, wine barrel tannins and tartness
T - Well, this is a great beer. lovely tartness, low acidity some orange juice, plums and raisins with a nice cherry and currant finish
M - Nice body, very dry with a touch of sweetness
O - Lovely beer! i want more of it.

@Borefts 2014, rood met witte kraag en een prikkelende kraag. enorm cassis-achtige fruitigheid. smaken van bittertje op basis van de zwarte bessen, maar ook wat metalig, verder is het een zure fruitbom niet erg bijzonder qua complexiteit,, was niet onder de indruk.
