Brekeriet Cassis is a sour ale mainly fermented with Brettanomyces yeast. Black currant is added during the secondary fermentation and this yeast loves berries which is shown in the fantastic taste of the beer. Brekeriet Cassis is refermented in the bottle which gives a thin layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

Tap at Borefts 2014. Pours clear burgundy with a pink head. Aroma of big tart blackberry and light funk. Light sweet and over moderate acidic. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Reminded me of VSB but without the hype.

At BBF 2014 . Poursdark pink . Good to big pink head . Smell is dry and fruity . Taste is funky , oak , dry , fruity , light mouthfeel . Intense taste. Good

@ Borefts 2014. Red colour, pink head. Soft carbonation. Fruity and funky with nice cassis aroma. Tart with light sweet hints. Easy drinkable and refreshing. Good!

sampled @ Borefts Beer Festival 2014: trübes rötlich/pinkes Bier mit schöner pinken Schaumkrone. Geruch nach reifen süßen Früchten, säuerlich. Geschmack holzig, fruchtig, Rhabarber, säuerlich.

Little cloudy deep red to purple beer, small pinkish head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of black currants, some chlorine, fruity, tannins, peel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very sour, lemony, funky, refreshing, lots of sour red berries, red currants, fruity, some chlorine. Aftertaste: sour, lemony, some vinegar, dry, red berries.

Tap@sbwf14. Deep Redcurrant color, pink head. Barnyard, funky, berries, soury aroma. Very dry mouthfeel. Red currants dominating in flavor. Tart, mouth drying. Solid flavor but something about the house aroma I don’t like.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass deep red, small head. Fruity berry aroma. Starts fruity like berries, notes of raspberries, light sourish. Not too intense fruity. Well balanced finish. Nice!

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. Looks amazing with its pink / red slightly clouded body under a big and really lacing pink white head. Super nose. Not hard to identify the cassis, but it has also something slightly herbal and grassy to it. Mild lemonish but with a sweet berry thing in the back. Nice. Lovely black currant flavor. Not to sour in any way but it has that refreshing little kick it needs. Something that reminds me of cherries also. Soft traces if red wine vinegar and wood. Something you can drink lots and lots of. Long blackcurrants in the lingering dry aftertaste. Really glad I have another bottle of this that I'll enjoy all by myself! 02.05.2014
