Brekeriet White Label

Brekeriet Cassis is a sour ale mainly fermented with Brettanomyces yeast. Black currant is added during the secondary fermentation and this yeast loves berries which is shown in the fantastic taste of the beer. Brekeriet Cassis is refermented in the bottle which gives a thin layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

Bottle 75cl at home. Pours slight hazy deep red with a medium pink head that settles quick and leaves a ring on the surface. Aroma is loads and loads of fresh tart berries (currant, blackberry), funky, yeasty and dusty tones in the background. Taste is tart berry, with again sour berries like currants and blackberry. A slight lactic sour tone, cherry-like, backed up with yeast, earth and funk. Ends tart and dry. Medium body, medium carbo with sharp bubbles. Extremely refreshing, very nice display of the fruitiness. Well done!

Cloudy red color with compact head. Nice cassis aroma. Feety sour flavor, trainwreck.

Hazy dark ruby color with large pink head. The cassis aroma is deep and very nice, with a lemony edge. The mouthfeel is dryish, the cassis flavor is moderate, the acidity low; there is an impression of herbs (sage).
Overall, the aroma is intense but the flavor is bland.

Bottle from Ølbutikken. clear red, small white head with a red hue. fresh black currant and black currant jam. also a faint beery note, but not much sour going on in the nose. Flavor is fruity sour, some fruity peely real citrussy notes that work very well, and makes it seem super fresh, the beer part of the flavor is quite bretty bitter, but not so dominant, flavor is definetly somewhat different than similar belgian brews, this being much less sour and tart.
