Bottled:
Pours dark, reddish brown with a medium sized, thick head. Sweet, malty aroma with notes of brown sugar, peat, licorice and dried plums. Sweet, malty flavour with notes of brown sugar, iodine, dried fruit, peat and some alcohol. Very well balanced whisky character.

Clear dark red brown colour, firm off-white head. Aroma of wood, caramel, vanilla, whisky, butter. Sweet flavour, butterscotch, whisky. Bit thin feeling. Sweet finish, caramel, roasted malts. Nice, actually.

75cl bottle. Dark ruby-brown pour with a coarse-grained tan head. Smells of caramel, whiskey, bourbon, toffee and spices. Sweet, with notes of burnt caramel, toffee, bourbon. As the drink gets warmer, it gets more complex, with notes of prunes, raisins and figs.It would do well with a fuller body or a bit of roastiness, but other than that this is a solid Belgian dark ale.

Amberfarget klar med høyt beige skum. Lukter melkesjokolade, brent karamell og honning. Smaker lett brent karamell, alkohol og vanilje. Lett bitterhet og alkohol i avslutningen.

Bottle from LDW, Eke. Dark brown, beige foam. Sweet and malty. Nose of vanilla, dark fruit and caramel. Whisky notes in the finish. Heavy, sweet and alcoholic but still balanced. Good.

Fles van batch 002 gedronken met T. J. en B. Donker roodbruin, helder bier. Kruidig aroma waarin de whisky duidelijk aanwezig is. Licht beige schuimkraag trekt langzaam weg. In de volle, zoetige en houtachtige smaak komt de whisky duidelijk tot z’n recht. Zacht, volmondig en sprankelend in de mond. De zoetige nasmaak vloeit langzaam uit.

At a tasting, thanks, smallish creamy head, brown color with lots of reddish hues, aroma biscuit, cake and nuts with some vanila in the back, mellow fruity woody biscuity flavor with some vanila ice cream and dolce de lecce, sweet but not over the top with a hint of sourness coming through. Quite heavy but really nice.

dark brown colour with ruby notes, medium sized creamy beige-ish head; aroma of toffee, dried fruits, apple, woody and whisky notes, hints of vanilla, as well as licorice and a bit too intensive spicy alcohol; taste is the same withsome anise, alcohol (and baked apple); would be perfect if the alcohol was only in the background, not in the ’frontline’ Earlier Rating: 2/17/2016 Total Score: 4 update: tasted on 09/02/2019: now the alcohol is not that dominant and anise and I can detect some anise and licorice, too - still a perfect brew
