A powerful and strong special blond beer with an alcohol content of 10.5%. Aromas of stone fruit and freshly mown grass are the introduction to a creamy head and a weighty palette. This is a full-body beer with strong flavours of ripe fruit and a dominant beer flavour. Hints of pepper and a pleasantly bitter tone are united with sweet fruity tones of honey and grapefruit in the smooth aftertaste

Super strong version of this ominous series, from a 50 cl can bought at an Albert Heijn supermarket. Unusual for its style in that it contains wheat rather than the usual suspects of malt extract, corn and the like. Tightly ’membranous’ lacing, off-white, moussy, medium thick head, slowly dissolving just away from the edges but largely stable in the middle; cristal clear ’old gold’ robe with light orangey hue, no visible fizz. Aroma of molten white sugar and a lot of fusel alcohol, damp cloth, white rum, the cooked smell of pasteurization, plastic, pear brandy, hints of caramel, iron, unwashed dishes in an industrial kitchen ironically paired with something soapy, dough, moonshine, strawberry liqueur. Very sweet onset, almost marmelade-like but in a very superficial, bland way, immediately metallic as well, with an effect of sourish grains trying to balance the sweetness; full but unpleasantly ’fat’, slick body. Alcohol is apparent from the onset onwards - long before it should become apparent at all even in this style. Slick wheatiness indeed, bit soapy, otherwise caramelly but superficial again, though weighing quite heavily on the tongue due to the considerable alcohol load. Needless to say, this alcohol manifests itself mercilessly in the finish, though I have to admit that I had worse cases in this league: it heats the back of the mouth and the throat, but still seems to remain relatively gentle and not overly wry, predominant as it may be. The wheat slickness and caramelly sweetness, which is clearly very heavily overloaded with syrup, goes down unpleasantly, like some or other sweet industrial candy, including its plastic-like connotations, which is probably what bothers me the most at this stage. This is almost like the malt liquor equivalent of a wheat wine (the barleywine substyle heralded by Smuttynose); very alcoholic, sickly sweet and slick to an almost soapy extent, metallic and bland, but still more ’bearable’ than many other low budget strong lagers in this dreary segment of the beer style world. Clearly made for those who seek to get drunk rapidly and have no money to achieve this goal with decent drinks - but actually quite cleverly done in that respect (which is, in all, perhaps a bit perverted in the eyes of a craft beer afficionado like myself). More or less in the same league as Gordon Finest Platinum in Belgium - or, perhaps, even worse. I was unable to drink more than a few ounces of this, the rest went through the drain where it belongs.

50cl can from a trade with Douberd! Pours clear deep golden colour with a mid-sized most good lasting white head. Aroma of strong grainy and sweet malt, corn. Taste of very stong pale malt, grainy, metallic hops, warm alcoholic finish.

Pours a clean golden colour with a big white cap, lasting long and creating some dirty lace. Not as rich smelling as I expected, with notes of fruitiness and mild grass. Reminds me of pears and alcohol. The taste is where it goes back to what I thought this would be. Pretty bitter, then some sweetness. All a little on the fake side. Hints of bananas in the aftertaste. Looks good, smells alright but taste is just gross. Hard to finish.
