A Belgian Quad by recipe, but aging it in spirits barrels garners its own category: Central Coast Quad. A beer formulated to sit on the sweeter and malty side so that we could utilize it for blending. Turbinado brown sugar from Mexico and Belgian candi sugar add wonderful molasses flavors. It has a full body and lush texture with barrel expression all over this beer: toasted oak, coconut, leather and cigar tobacco.

Fireatone Walker Stickee Monkee 12.5% Deep inky reddish-black with a fast-dissipating rusty looking head. The aroma is syrupy molasses and oaky bourbon notes. Full bodied and soft carbonation but scratchy finish. The taste is bourbon barrels filled with molasses with notes of oak and vanilla thrown in for good measure. For over 10% this is damn smooth... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Boxed 355ml bottle (2017 version and 12.5%). Drank at the October Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting. Thin beige head, dark brown body. Barley Wine like in looks, aroma and taste: sweet, fruity and malty. Rich and interesting, liked it.

355ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Oct 17. Pours dark brown, extremely thin off-white head. Aroma is caramel / toffee / syrup. Taste is slick, moderately sweet with smooth candy sugar, toffee, brown sugar, with a rich barley wine-like sweetness and some bourbon notes. Complex, layered, interesting American Strong Ale. Probably would've gone well with a cigar, and I don't even like cigars. This beer would probably turn me onto cigars.
