What Fizzy Yellow Beer should be!
I believe that "Fizzy Yellow Beer" can and should be full of life and flavor unlike domestic mass produced, mundane, lifeless, boring, bland, fizzy yellow, insipid swill that takes up cooler space and tap handles at our local markets, pubs and restaurants. San Diego’s East Village is full of life and Green Flash is adding flavor to this burgeoning neighborhood with "East Village Pilsner". It’s made from premium European Pilsner Malt and Noble Hops. Traditional Pilsner lager yeast ferments the beer and imparts a clean flavor, yet unique character during the one-month lagering period. Of course our East Village Pilsner has a bit more hop than even the best European examples, which makes it truly a Green Flash Original. 5.3% ABV – 35 IBUs.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark orange gold with a 4 finger creamy white head. Aromas of bread and grass. Med body. Flavor is bready and herby/grassy. Finishes a little sweet but well balanced by bitter. Tastes good.

Draught Shortlived white head over totally clear metallic golden beer. Pure malty nose, pale malts’ galore, dry. Hopbitter, no USA hops; dry, again pale malts but in coherence with the hops. Dry, light bodied, grist slickness. Very convincing Bohemian pilsener, even if the nose seems a bit hopdevoid.

Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear golden color with a medium creamy offwhite head. Decent head retention. Aroma of sweet bready malts, grassy hops and a bit of nuttiness. The taste is grassy hops, bready malts and slightl graininess. Assertively hopped and carbonated, medium bodied.

Had this on tap at the house of 1000 beers, nice place. Slightly hazey pale yellah. Off artificial hop arome like its trying to be an IPA but can’t. Some CO2. Thin palateand quite hoppy, again more like an IPA than a pilsner. Yes, strong hoppy pilsner with lots of personality. Clean finish that has a medium stronger pils or IPA linger. Probably rates high here cause its somewhat like an IPA.

Cloudy golden color. Chalk white head. Very grassy, huge hoppy nose. Massive grassy hop attack in the mouth. Full on hop assault and one of the hoppiest palates I’ve come across. A touch of diacetyl, that somehow adds to this beer! Bitterness is unfathomable to any regular drinker of yellow fizzy beer. IBU stands for I Beat U with hops sucker. This is a Bohemian Pils on ’roids. Marion Jones drinks this shit everyday I am sure!
