Bottle at home ...Thanks to Fin fo this in my Cropredy Box... Deep copper brown coloured with a big foam head ... Big ginger nose with a little sweet toffee malt character in background ... The first taste is of bitter ginger root skin this mellows off a bit but its the Ginger that dominates killing off most of the beer characteristics ... with some dark malts and maybe a hint of liquorish fighting through ... bitter linger but some ginger flavour lingering. All round a disapointment.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Reddish amber in colour with a decent off-white head. Caramel, red fruit and subtle ginger aroma. Flavour saw the Fentimans ginger beer and ale combine well, with sweetness and spice complementing one another and a warming ginger finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle picked up at Sainsburys, Kidlington, Oxon. Consumed at a field during Cropredy Festival 08 I understand that this is just a variant on the Old Tom although I note that it is significantly weaker. I felt that as it was just a twist on the Old Tom then it was based on the English Strong Ale which was where I thought that it might be most appropriately placed. Pours dark amber with a thin white head, toffee and ginger dominate the aroma, there is also a slight warmth from the ginger as it slips down, tasy beer.
