Draught, in Strasbourg, as La Brune. Dark chestnut colour, seemingly clear. Stable, creamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts. Vinous, earthy, roasted, sweet flavour. The aftertaste has a sour touch. 6 3 6 3 15

Draught at the brewpub in Toronto as Dark Ale. Weak roasted aroma. Seemingly unclear dark brown colour. Very small tan head. OK roasted flavour, a little tart and unclean. 5 3 5 3 11

On tap Montreal This starts with a large off white head that lasts briefly revealing a dark brown body beneath. Light malt aroma with a solvent note to it. The flavor surpasses the aroma however and there are some chocolate and nuts in the flavor and a dry chalky finish. Needs a little more body and flavor intensity as do most of this brewers beers, but certainly a drinkable brew.

2011-09-05, draught at the brewpub in Lille, 6-4-6-2-12=30
The color is dark brown, almost black, with beige creamy head. Light roasted malt aroma, and light roasted malt flavor; the mouthfeel is quite dry and the bitterness is correct; there is a light trace of liquorice. Simple Stout.

2004-10-30, Les 3 Brasseurs Saint-Priest (Lyon), 5-4-5-3-11=28
Brown color. Light aroma of roasted malt. Medium dry body, with a lot of caramel and a touch of roasted malt. A touch of coffee in the final.

From the Strasbourg brewpub: Light fruit aroma. Red brown hue with some lace. Fruity strawberry flavors a bit chokolate. The balance is no good though. Weakbodied. Yeasty aftertaste.

Sampled draught at their Aubière location (France).
Very dark brown with beige head. Peaty aroma. Sweet and clean. Some malt flavour, but the body is thin, and some acidity reveals a beginning infection. As dull as the location in by a parking lot at a shopping centre by a highway in a grey suburb.
