Bottle shared with Finn at Paters Vaetje. Clear, golden-brown body. Patchy surface, fragile lacing. Sweet malty aroma added by spicy hints. Caramel, anise and almond in flavour. Notes of yeasty fruitiness and alcohol on the swallow. Quite alright (Antwerpen, 29.04.2011).

Bottled 330ml. -as Charles Quint Rouge and 8.5%ABV. Darker amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, malty and mild spicy nose. Sweet malty, fruity and spicy with mild alcohol presence. Hint of metal in the finish. Expected better beer.

26/02/2011 - 33cl bottle @ Kulminator - vintage 1983(!) (2011-68)

Color of the beer unknown (served in a stone beerpot) but it looked amber to brownish from above. Little head, unstable. Aroma: port, spices, pepper, curry, alcohol, orange peel, citrus peel, cloves, cinnamon. A truly amazing pallet of aroma's! MF: completely flat, no carbon. Possibly due to the very wild pouring technique of the waitress in her effort to get some head on the beer. Medium body, fairly watery texture. TAste: spices and lots of 'em. Pepper, ginger, nothing sweet though. Aftertaste: more spices, some orangepeel, but weird and unpleasant.

As Keizer Karel Rouge Rubis/Robijn Rood. Bottle at Delirium Cafe on 19 January 2011. Deep red with offwhite lacing head. Bitter initially, fruity in-mouth and aftertaste which becomes bittersweet.

Bottle at the Pivkan festival in Zagreb, Charles Quint Rubis Red, 8.5%. Poured an amber-brown body, dark, with an off white-tan head, huge, that went away slowly. Dusty, heavy malty nose. Fruity malty full taste, soft, some alcohol, some dust, peppery hopiness, slightly grainy and dry. Nice enough.

Nice brown-amber body with no carbonation, modest amount of head. Malty aroma, some cherry notes, wood hints. Taste is dark oak wood and cherries, finishing off with a bitter alcoholic finish. Quite nice, but I find the aftertaste too overpowering.
