Bottle. Poured mahogany with a thick off-white head. Aroma was full of sweet malts and a bit of a coca cola aroma to it. Flavor was one note malt through out and a bit sweet. There was a strong alcoholic kick towards the end.

23rd February 2008. Smooth brown beer. Very creamy with a distinct chocolate milkshake feel. Smooth, sumptuous, soft, superb!

This is the Rouge Rubis version that has 8.5% abv. Pours copper, thick off white head. Aroma is fruity, malty, sugary, felt like I was getting light smoke mlts and faint orange peel. Taste; fruity posible some apple, prune, fig some sweet malts with the abv remaining in the background. Light caramel, some orange peel, complex gained some fruit profile as it warmed up.

Dark brown with a deep, dark, red. Medium head. Sweet caramel aroma, fruity, with cherries and a bit of citrus. Slightly tangy, spicy. Sweet, fruity flavor: caramel and molasses, with raisins and alcohol heat Pleasant roasted, hoppy finish. Quite bitter and long-lasting. Not hugely interesting but complex enough and well balanced. Good.

The bottle looks a bit cheap, the beer in the glass is okay. Tastes strong, a bit alcoholic, modest fruity. Intense finish, also alcoholic, notes of wood. A bit unbalanced. Average!

Bottle, pours deep red with a thin off white head. Aroma is thin with big red soda, licorice, and malt. The moderatly carbonated mouth starts with a salty sour mix of cherry and spice. Ends on a bitter note that is dry.

Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Poured a reddy nut brown colour with a decent creamy beige head. Aroma had dark fruit, coriander, sweet malt and caramel. The flavour was sweetish with malt, raisin, and a light bitter hop finish. Not too bad.

On tap @ Café Gollem. Deep reddish amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, fruits. Flavour is sweet, malts, caramel, fruits and iron. Too much "amber" flavours in there for me.
