Surreal spontaneous sour ale aged in oak barrels
Spontaneously fermented in oak barrels, L'Brett d'Or's fermentation is kicked off with the help of the natural wild yeasts and bacteria residing around our coolship and native to our brewery. Since our spontaneous beers can only be brewed during the winter months, individual releases involve blending unique barrels to bring out the best of each brewing season. Characterized by funky citrus aromas, a crisp acidic bite, and a complex finish, L'Brett d'Or will continue to age with the best of them, gaining in complexity over the years.

On tap at Beertemple. Clear pale yellow with a thin white head. Smells like gooseberries, white grapes, white wine and macerated fruit. The taste follows the same notes, lightly sour as well as hoppy bitter, with additional notes of tropical fruit and citrus. Light bodied, soft carbonation and a lightly sour and hoppy aftertaste,

Le brett d’Or very soft light gold. Lemoney, oaky and tart aroma. Beautiful soft and smooth body. Nice sour acidic lemon on a wheaty body. Really nice fruity aftertaste. 3.7-8

Bottle. A lightly hazy golden beer topped by a small, dense, white head. The aroma is sure funky, with some lemon and barnyard, a touch of lime and berries, some cellar and a faint cardboard-ish touch. Rather vinous, white wine style. Gooseberries, lime and lemon, some funk and cellar in the flavor, with a decent bitterness and some vinous notes. Medium to full, pleasant carbonation, quite dry on the palate. Long mostly fruity finish with lime and some peaches. Quite nice this one, but a bit boring in a way. 150814
