An IPA with a citrus kick, Virmalised GF uses a blend of hops and fresh grapefruit.
Taste: Sweet fresh citrus mixes with a refreshing acidity before more citrus joins the party, intertwining with a sweet biscuity malt character. A hoppy freshness comes in after the initial citrus kick, reminding of classic Virmalised flavours, before finishing off with more zesty grapefruit .

Golden colour with light haze. Aroma and flavour certainly have plenty of citrusy sharp grapefruit.

Bottle at Struise shop in Bruges. Very thick, rocky, bath foam-like, egg-white head over an initially clear, warm and deep amber-tinged orange blonde beer. Rich aroma teeming with fresh pink grapefruit (flesh and peel), hints of moldy orange, granadilla, lychee, kiwi, dried mango, biscuit, pink pepper, sundried tomatoes, green apple peel, lime zest. Vivid but clean fruitiness in the mouth, hints of mango, lime and passion fruit, with sweetness and soft sourishness well balanced against each other; softish carbo, supple and somewhat ’fluffy’ mouthfeel. Biscuity and lightly caramelly malt sweet core, supporting a wealth of aromatic hoppiness which unfolds in the end, producing retronasal aromas of mango, marihuana and passion fruit, but, as expected, grapefruit more than anything else; the added grapefruit reinforces this effect without disturbing it. Soft aromatic and spicy bitterness lingers. I like the idea of ’fruiting’ IPAs in order to accentuate the fruity properties of these New World hops, but this idea does not always turn out right; in this case, however, it is beautifully done.

330ml Bottle - Hazy copper in colour. Grapefruit, pine and toffee in the aroma. Hoppy, fruity and tangy taste with pine, grapefruit, sultanas and dried apricot standing out. Quite nice and not artificial like some grapefruit IPAs but I prefer the original Virmalised.

Bottle. Deep orange color with white head. Aroma is pink grapefruit, some grapefruit hops as well, a bit toasted malts, some herbal hops. Taste is juicy grapefruit, toasted malts, rather lightbodied. Nice refreshing tartness. Medium carbonation. Quite interesting, one of the better Grapefruit IPAs I’ve had.

Bottle 330ml (29.12.2016). Dark golden colour, a bit hazy, small grey, very short-lasting head with gentle lacing. There is strong note of red grapefruit when you open the bottle but very short in time. After that main notes are pine, tropical fruits and caramel anyway very nice. Bitterness medium to high with resin and citrus character with delicate sweetness at the finish.Red grapefruit is perceptible in aftertaste. Beer is dry, medium body but drinkable and even a bit refreshing. Quite good IPA but I drank more "grapefruit" beer.
