French for "Two Friends," Deux Amis brings together two esteemed brewers who have long admired each other's work—Olivier Dedeycker, fourth generation Master Brewer at Brasserie Dupont and Tomme Arthur, acclaimed Brew Master of Lost Abbey. Brewed in Belgium using Dupont's 172-year-old brewing equipment, techniques, and its revered yeast strain, this collaboration marries the two brewer's Saison styles and adds American Amarillo and Simcoe hops. The result of this kinship is a dry, refreshing Old World Saison full of peppery spice that finishes with New World flavors of floral orange and earthy pine.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A lightly hazy golden colored beer with a small white head. The aroma is very fruity, with the typical Dupont yeast profile. Black pepper, some yellow apples, pine cone notes and a vague phenolic hint. Its full bodied, dry and nicely carbonated. The flavor too is mostly fruity and peppery, with a little malty touch in the back. Yeast notes, resin and a faint alcohol touch. Pleasant bitterness too. Lasting finish. A really pleasant one, tasteful and dangerously easy drinkable. 170128

Tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is grainy, bready, not so much spiciness, but a bit. Taste is bready, grainy, earthy. Medium carbonation. Okay, but not top-notch.

Pours bright gold into a shaker. Bright white head grows and tophats and does not recede. Sweet bubblegum and hay aromas. Crisp with banana and hay upfront turning to bitter earth and pine in the lasting finish.

Pours a hazy golden light amber from a bottle with a thick white head. Very nice complex aroma of pear, pine resin, and estery bubblegum. These are combined with that great peppercorn yeastiness, along with some fresh baked bread. Well balanced, a little sharp as you might expect, very effervescent in the throat. Very good beer.

Bottle shared by John, thanks! Pours a clear light yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges quickly. Aroma has a combination of grass, light fruits and Belgian yeast. Flavor has lots of grass and Belgian yeast with sweet grains backing.

Very heavy carbonation. Yellow, tall white head. Dry yeast and hops. Earth, grass, flowers, hay. Excellent palate with the carbonation so high.

75cl bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours hazy gold, large white head. Aroma is sweet citrus, light saison yeast. Taste is perhaps not as hop-forward as expected with a tempered saison character and a very light sweetness, lacking the peppery spice of standard Saison Dupont. Balanced and refreshing.
