French for "Two Friends," Deux Amis brings together two esteemed brewers who have long admired each other's work—Olivier Dedeycker, fourth generation Master Brewer at Brasserie Dupont and Tomme Arthur, acclaimed Brew Master of Lost Abbey. Brewed in Belgium using Dupont's 172-year-old brewing equipment, techniques, and its revered yeast strain, this collaboration marries the two brewer's Saison styles and adds American Amarillo and Simcoe hops. The result of this kinship is a dry, refreshing Old World Saison full of peppery spice that finishes with New World flavors of floral orange and earthy pine.

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Hazy amber colour, white foam. Nose of orange, pine, pepper. Dry and bitter hoppy. Very nice beer! And very cheap for this quality!

Large sample from one of the 75ml bottles at a tutored beer tasting in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury on 15th Dec 2016. White crown on top of the slightly hazed golden body. The aroma was leaning towards the sweeter end of the citrus scale with the taste more towards the bitter and semi-sour citrus fruits: a malty base to this brew, which calms the hops and bitterness down nicely. Happy marriage of Dupont and Lost Abbey.

Bottle, massive thanks to Leighton. It pours clearish golden with a thick white head. The aroma is fresh, musty, funky, bready, fruit pie, banana, vanilla, candy and orange creamiscle. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, slightly tart, straw, soda water, orange peel, tangerine and peppery spice with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Decent gear.

Flaska från SB drucken med ölföreningen. Klassisk saison. Stor kropp men klassisk kripsid och frisk smakbild som är försiktigt uppdaterad med citrus, grön humle och liten marsipansötma. Riktigt gott.

750ml bottle. Filtered orange-tan body. Fluffy white head. Zesty, bright, peppery, bubblegum, orange aroma. Really sublime true Belgian feel. The yeast is funky, but the overall beer is very centered. The hops really give it a grassy feel, bitter, piney. Earthy, rustic, had those pleasant farmhouse tones accentuated by the clean malt backdrop. World Class stuff.

(750ml bottle from Systembolaget shared) Pours lightly hazed yellow gold with a huge fluffy white head that lingers well with heavy spotty lace. Aroma is heavy spicy, herbal phenolics, weed, cracker malt, white pepper, Dupont yeast, lemon-lime peel. Flavour is semi sweet pale malt, spicy phenolics, grain, bitter citrus, baking pear, herbal notes. The finish is quite dry with moderate herbal bitterness, lingering yeasty notes and phenolics, and a slight minerality. Medium bodied with smooth mouth-filling carbonation. A bit of a twist on classic Saison Dupont, a bit more like the dry-hopped version as expected, not particularly American in character. Refreshing and drinkable.
