3rd June 2010 - Brasserie 4:20. On tap. Clear very dark red brown beer. Thick creamy tan head. Light crisp palate. Pretty sour but manages not to pucker. A worcester sauce like sourness not dissimilar to Duchesse but also with some lemon like acidity. A bit too sour for my palate.

Draught @ 4:20, Rome. Pours black with a smalll creamy white head and lacings. Coffee, glogg, red wine, balsamic vinegar, cherries. One of the weirder Dolle brews. Interesting in fact!

On tap at Delirium, found in a notebook from a while back. Poured a dark brown with a light brown head. An interesting aroma as it is dry and tart with an undertone of dark malts. Flavor is dry, tart and fruity again with the undertone of dark and roasted. Reminded me of a great example of an Old English Porter with the clear tart and dryness.

Draught @ ZBF 2009, St.-Niklaas, Belgium.Clear medium to dark red brown color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, sour berry, moderate wood, roasted malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, moderate acidic and bitter with a long duration, and a bit salty. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. That is a very nice beer, for me the best of Zythos 2009 ;0)) keep up the good work ;o)) [20090307]

Draught at ZBF 2009, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium - Several samples.
Deep black body. Lightly brown, creamy head. Aroma of dark fruit, wood, strong malts, lactic acid, bit acetic acid: wood, very complex and great balance. Lightly bitter, heavily sour flavour of fruit and malts. Think of a beer in the middle of Rodenbach Grand Cru and Oerbier (both flavour and aroma-wise). Great beer although I was expecting another type of beer based on the name.

Sampled at Zythos 2009. The beer that was everyone lips from the beer festival. Hazy dark brown colour. It’s an old ale. Lovely sourness. Really lovely sour green apple. Very interesting sour Flemish beer. Really surprising and pretty good.

Draught at ZBF09. Sour aroma, quite bad, and seems infected. Muddy dark brown colour. Big stable light brown head. Fortunately, the flavour is better. Quite acidic and fruity, some raisin and strong lactic and lemony acidity. Very interesting. Tastes good, but in small doses.

Draught at Zythos Beer Festival, March 7th and 8th 09 Pours dark brown with a light beige head. The nose has some Greek yoghurt touches initially and then a splash of balsamic vinegar. Taste is really quite sour, wet woodiness, nice tang to it, dries a little and then the Balsamic and Yoghurt on the nose make an appearance in the mouth. If I was tasting this blind I would have sworn that there were some cherries in this. Doesn’t seem like a Porter at all but to be fair that is about the only thing that I could be critical about. This was really, really lovely,. I initially scored it 4.1 it was my first of the festival but I finished with it and it was even better, so it moved up a couple of mark’s. Easily the best beer of the festival for me, a stunner. A8 A5 F8 P4 OV17 4.3

Draught Good yellow head; deep reddish-brown beer. Imposing lactic nose, sour, announcing itself with no mistake, fruity. Even a bit acetic, with obvious woody shades. Fruity flavours (oranges, apples, cherry,...) Very woody & lacitc, sweet-sour. Beer is served too cold, when warming up, tastes are fully blooming. Lipsmacking sourish feel, lemony, and medium bodied. Certain slickness. OK. This IS a great beer. Kris, you’re excused IMO for usurping the sacred name.
