75cl bottle @ De Dolle. Shared with the UnPer100 crew, thank you Kris for sharing it.

One-off porter-like experiment for ZBF 2011. Light yellow beige head, very dark red brown colour, near to black. Complex fruity aroma, vinous with strong presence of lactic acid, sour cream, brambleberries, medium dry sherry, cassis, passion fruit, wine vinegar, coffee, white grapes. Smooth fruity taste, quite strong carbonation, sharp citrussy tartness almost like unsweetened orange juice, caramelly maltiness, dark ’forest fruits’, woody accent, ending in a lactically sourish dryness. Certainly something for those who appreciate Belgian-style sour beers but more of a very dark oud bruin than a porter to me. Apparently still (2018) sold in 75 cl bottles at the brewery, but the recipe has changed, now being a blend of Oerbier and Ara Bier aged on wood and soured with Lactobacillus; the end result is even closer to an 'oud bruin' than the original, more actually (historically) porter version of 2011, with paler colour (a warm mahogany brown) and more outspoken acidity; still a great beer, but absolutely not a porter anymore, not even with the 18th- and 19th-century porter tradition (in which - undeliberate - souring was an important factor) in mind. My rating here is an average of both versions, but frankly I think they deserve two separate entries!

RBESG 2010, draught at Brasserie 4:20
Dark brown color. Strange aroma, sweet, dusty caramel, good body strength; sweetish caramel flavor, with light fruitness and decent sourness. It lacks some freshness in character to be really appreciated.

Draft. A brown beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of bread, wood, brettanomyces, caramel, and vinegar. The flavor is acidic with notes of malt and caramel, leading to a tart finish.

On tap. RBESG Rome 2010. Pours a hazy deep orangey golden with an off-white head. Tart and very sophisticated aroma of wood and honey with a tart edge. Medium body, has a light whiff of hard roasted malt, but it’s the massive sourness and acetone that dominates. Maybe the starting off point was a Porter but the result is much closer to a Flemish Red. 030610

From tap at 4:20. Pours dark brown with a deep amber glare and a huge tan head. Aroma is citric and fruity. Dark roasted malt too. Solid lacto, citric and dark malty flavoured. Berry fruity touch. Light wooden note. Slight acidic burn into the far finish.
