Metalli ja maltaat lyövät samaa komppia, kun yli 20 vuotta maailmaa kiertänyt espoolainen kulttibändi Children of Bodom saa oman oluensa. Niin ikään espoolaisen Fat Lizard -panimon kanssa tehty Lake Bodom Pre-Prohibition Lager julkaistiin kevättalvella 2019. Oluen resepti on suunniteltu yhdessä bändin jäsenten kanssa – lähtökohtana tehdä moneen tilanteeseen sopiva ja helposti juotava helvetin hyvä bisse.
Lake Bodom on väriltään meripihkainen lager, jonka tuoksu on maltainen, hennon karamellinen ja mausteisen humalainen. Tettnanger-humalan yrttisyys antaa ryhtiä mallasvartalolle, ja jälkimaussa tuntuu mukavasti suuta puhdistava Magnum-humalan katkero. Osa keitossa käytetystä vedestä on tietysti kannettu Bodominjärven murhaniemestä.
Tyylisuuntana Pre-Prohibition viittaa Yhdysvaltain kieltolakia edeltäneeseen aikaan, jolloin amerikkalaiset lager-oluet olivat maltaisia ja rehdin ryhdikkäitä, maukkaita oluita.

From tap at The Riff, Helsinki. Malty aroma with some caramel and slight fruity notes. Body is medium. A bit unclean, like Lake Bodom.

Canned (from KCM Seinäjoki). Hazy amber colour, small white head. Aroma is floral, grainy and some mild herbal note. Flavour is herbal, some dusty, rubbery and mild yeasty and actually fermentation gone strange notes.

44 cl can @ home. Canned 04.11.2020, BBE 04.07.2021 Aroma has grain, grassy hops. Flavour has grainy malt, grassy hops, some mild sweetness. Good, crisp and easy-going pils. A bit sweeter than average.

Pours clear, darker blonde. Small white head. Smell is full, heavy grainy. More 'dense' than the modern style lagers. Taste is full, bit bitter, full maltyness. Bit caramel malts. very nice !
