Metalli ja maltaat lyövät samaa komppia, kun yli 20 vuotta maailmaa kiertänyt espoolainen kulttibändi Children of Bodom saa oman oluensa. Niin ikään espoolaisen Fat Lizard -panimon kanssa tehty Lake Bodom Pre-Prohibition Lager julkaistiin kevättalvella 2019. Oluen resepti on suunniteltu yhdessä bändin jäsenten kanssa – lähtökohtana tehdä moneen tilanteeseen sopiva ja helposti juotava helvetin hyvä bisse.

Lake Bodom on väriltään meripihkainen lager, jonka tuoksu on maltainen, hennon karamellinen ja mausteisen humalainen. Tettnanger-humalan yrttisyys antaa ryhtiä mallasvartalolle, ja jälkimaussa tuntuu mukavasti suuta puhdistava Magnum-humalan katkero. Osa keitossa käytetystä vedestä on tietysti kannettu Bodominjärven murhaniemestä.

Tyylisuuntana Pre-Prohibition viittaa Yhdysvaltain kieltolakia edeltäneeseen aikaan, jolloin amerikkalaiset lager-oluet olivat maltaisia ja rehdin ryhdikkäitä, maukkaita oluita.

Can 440ml
Dark amber colour, small white head. Light sweetish, even a bit bready aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Sweetish malty, a bit stuffy like Lake Bodom water, some spicey hops. Neh...

23 February 2019. (Tasting formerly known as) RBBWG. Cheers to all, thanks Kraddel for the hospitality! Hazy orange with a lasting, very thin, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of hashish, grass, pepper, sweaty onion, grain, yeast, white bread. Taste is light fruity sweet, notes of yellow apple & apricot with bready & yeasty accents, a bit metallic; light to medium grainy bitter then, grassy touch with sourish wheat & lemon in the back. Dryish, grassy hoppy finish, more yeast & bread retronasally. Light, almost medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Not too shabby as a Lager, just not very memorable.

T: taste is bit better, bready, caramel, some fruity, decent bitterness, medium body and carbonation, this is no lager for me yet not bad as a free style beer ;)

A red-brown beer, a head is almost medium and blond. Aroma has maltyness, some caramel, the fresh bitterness is from the herbal side. Taste has maltyness with balanced caramel, also hay and nice bitterness. Medium bodied, quite smooth. Nice beer brewed with a great band.
